- I have owned a Commodore VIC20 / 64 / Amiga (greatest computer & operating system ever made!), NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation 1 (both Ps1, psone) and currently the playstation 2 (black ps2 slim model) & Nintendo DS (Blue).
- I'm usually late to owning a game system. I don't beleive in paying more than $130 for a game system and more than $25 for a game. That's just me. By the time I go for a new system the games are 4 years old and less than $10 a pop. I can wait. $599 for a ps3 and they won't even include the cord that would give me next gen graphics? Nope. I'm still very much impressed with the ps2. I mean God of War 2 is looking like it's just as much fun and Gears of War or Rainbow 6 vegas.....almost. Those are 2 frikkin good games....
- I've had my playstation 2 for about 7 months since the time I wrote this (2/25/2007). I've got quite a collection in a short period of time because the system has been out for 7 years and many of the games can be had for less than $9.. I played the heck out of my playstation 1 (mostly the fighting games) and didn't really pay any attention to the ps2 until 2006. Compared to the ps1 graphics the ps2 is a MAJOR leap in terms of graphics and gameplay. Grand THeft Auto 3 blew my mind. I can play it for a month and probally still never finish it. Metal Gear SOlid 2 was incredible. Resident Evil 4 is a all time classic. God of War is the kind of game I would make. The Godfather & Scarface can take hours of your life. Ratchet & Clank was amazing and I look forward to getting the rest of that series. The Playstation 2 is a real jump from 1 system to another. Like how it was with the jump from the Super Nintendo to the Playstation 1.
- Personally I don't think the leap has been that great so far for the ps2 to the ps3. HD gaming is sweet no doubt, but it's the same games your playing on the ps2 or xobx, only with sweeter graphics. I have A LOT of games to beat before I'll spring for a ps3. Especially at $599. I know it's a fair price, but that doesn't mean it's affordable. Wow!
- I've played the xbox 360 and I have to say I'm very impressed with it. The only negaitve I can see with it is that it uses the regular dvd format for it's games. Not a big deal now, but next gen gaming storage needs will start to cause 360 games to be released on multiple discs which will raise the cost of games. $59 is already insane for a video game, so I hope they resolve that. Other than that it is a impressive system and seems to be able to do anything a ps3 can do for now. Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas are almost enough to warrant a fast impulse credit card buy.......must refrain.....birthday coming soon..........
- I buy my used games used thru EBgames/Gamestop, amazon or half.com. Occasionally some gems can be had thru craigslist. I managed to score a copy of the ultra rare marvel vs capcom 2 for the PS2 for $40, a bargain price thru craiglist. That game can run up to $140 depending on where you look.
- I subscribe to Game Informer & Electronic Gaming Monthy (EGM) magazines, and my favorite game sites are gamespot (for reviews) & gametrailers for HD trailers and gameplay. There are more game links below.
- I also own a Nintendo DS with 3 games - Metroid Fusion, New Mario 64 & Yoshi's Island. Nintendo makes great games. How can you deny the power of Yoshi?
- I also have Emulators for all the older game systems (sega genesis, gameboy, nes & snes, ect) and all the games for each system. Don't know what a emulator is? Go here.
- Some games I want to play or own - rainbow six: las vegas, Gears of War, Stranglehold, Mario Galaxy, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Okami, God of War 2, Bully, Prince of PErsia (ps2 games), SNiper Elite..........
- I don't get it. Madden is the same game every year yet people froth at the mouth to get it. The jump from ps1 to ps2 madden was huge. The jump from ps2 to 360/ps34 madden ain't so huge. I expected more graphical detail, and a better simulation of turf damage and body collisions. I've played 07 & 08 MAdden. It's the same game. There are a few minor improvements, but you don't charge another $60 for them. The highway robbery. The ps2 06 version of NCAA football is way mor efun than the 360 maddens. John Madden must wipe his ass with $100 bills. What a hustle EA has going.
- (aug 07) Getting a kick out of the price drops on the next gen systems. I thought they rushed these things out. There's not enough people out there with hi def tv's, and you can't enjoy a 360 or ps3 without one. I don't think I'll be taking the next gen plunge for at least another 2 years. I haven't seen anything that warrants $60 a game on top of a $500 game system. Most of the next gen games are way too short, and how come we still have action games without damage being represented on the screen? Heavenly Sword just came out and is basically a God OF War with a hot chick. She slices and dices, but look closely and no one actaully gets cut up. You get a mortal kombat type spray of blood and that's it. Not very next gen. I still haven't taken the HD tv plunge, I'm waiting for a decent 42" to get around $900 which is the most I'll pay for a frikkin TV. I'll be wating awhile, so in the meantime....bless the playstation 2.
