-Boy, it seems the south side of chicago is becoming an acceptable place for black on black DEATH. I mean how many people have to be shot and killed before it becomes something that needs to be addressed. As a black african USA dude I find it funny how folks who call each other 'brotha's n sistas' can lay rounds of bullets in each other like it's nothing. What they are killed over? Mostly drugs. That bothers me too. Why drugs have not been legalized is beyond me. We're suppose to be FREE right? Well why aren't we free to put what we want into our bodies. Why are alcohol and tobacco legal and weed and cocaine not? We know these substances are harmful to you so we'll tax the hell out of them and pretend they aren't.  You can even advertise if your want.  I mean seems silly to me. Taken in high enough quantities can kill ya over time. People are going to get high no matter what. Your never going to stop that. Keeping drugs illegal keeps places like the south side of Chicago the south side of Chicago.  The Tribune Metro section is pretty much a tragic dead 'black of the day' front pager.  So sad, so senseless. Click on THIS from time to time and I betcha you'll read about a shooting on the SOuth side of Chicago. It's freaky how much it happens and how much it seems to be accepted.

-Well it looks like Moonlight is done.  What a shame.  Great show, great cast.  I’m surprised it lasted this long on cbs, the murder channel.  I hope they move to a different network, like fox, sci-fi or the cw.  Fighting to get a second season on CBS is a waste of time.  They’ll just reduce the season to 12 episodes and eventually cancel it cuz people who watch numbers, cold case & csi are not going to get Moonlight.

-Interesting stuff these well known bands are doing with this ‘take the music for free’ campaigns.  A lot of musicians feel like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead are devaluing music.  I think music is beyond being devalued.  Until they figure out how to make a NEW music industry I think most bands who don’t have mortage payments anymore are going to just sit back and create.  Both Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead’s albums were the best I’ve heard from them in awhile, so as a fan of music I’m happy I was able to get my hands o them for nothing.  Yeah it sucks for the music industry, but I think the problems with the music industry go beyond Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead.  Some serious shit needs to be fixed if it wants to remain relevant as a form on profitable entertainment.  These 1 hit wonder groups are great for quick sales and short attention spans, but in the long run you are going to have to offer quality product.

-Was Speed Racer really that bad?  $38 million world wide opening weekend?  Good lordy.   The W brothers won’t see a big budget or creative control like they had again I bet.  Too bad, I loved Speed Racer as a kid.  The Mammoth Car dude.  The Mammath car.

-I know a talked about it before, but I Still get a kick out of NY Yankees Alex Rodriquez’s salary vs the Flordia Marlons entire roster.  They are in first place as I write and its hard to believe Alex could pay the whole Flordia teams roster and still have money left over.  Wow.  Whats in your paypal account?

-Saw War Inc.  I liked it but good luck trying to open this at $20 million.  It ain’t Gross Point Blanke pt 2 like a lot of people were hoping, and it’s a choppy affair.

-Requiem For An Assassin by my favorite author Barry Eisler.  Great book, lookingforward to the next one.  Hope the upcoming  movie is good too!

-I was watching Smallville’s season finale, I stopped keeping up with it for a couple years (Supernatural is the real deal).  I can’t believe you have a 7 season arc based on a) clark and lana being together & b) Lex Luthor discovering Clark’s ‘secret’.  7 seasons of this tripe.  From what I’m told he gets regular visitors from the people of Krypton, including Supergirl.  Yeah.  Seems that since it’s ultimately going to be Clark and Lois you could have done that in 3 seasons at the most.  They way the show is done hell (everyone walks into Lex’s crib), Clark could have walked in Lex’s office and said here’s the deal…..I’m a badass,  I move so fast that I have to wait for bullets to catch up to me,  f#$k with me and they will never never ever find you…..then cut to “somebody sAAAAAAAVe meeeeeeeeee”.   Really though, I don’t know, fans deserve better.  I can’t imagine the fans of long running shows I respect (Farscape, CSI, Doctor Who, Angel, Buffy) continuing to support poor writing like this.  The main producers are gone now so maybe you’ll get that 1 fantastic season of Smallville you’ve been hoping for all these years.  Hope so, they had one helluva cast when they started out minus my boy Pete lol.  That was a token choking’.

-finally. Witchblade (the tv show with Yancy Butler) is coming out on dvd july 29th. Bout time.

-I listen to am radio while I work (or howard stern :-), and I'm amazed at all the 'get your hard wang again' commercials. Magic pills which will force your pud to get stiff even if you are staring at obese booty with a bad herpes infection. These drugs are dangerous and cover up a bigger problem with men as they get older. They loose interest in their spouses. Why? I think it's because like all good things in life you have to work HARD at keeping sexual relations ongoing in relationships. And you have to do it BECUZ you are in love with your spouse. There is no way your going to find you girlfriend/ wife as attractive in the 6th year of your union as you did your 1st year. Unfortunately people like to get lazy when it comes matters of the heart and genitals. Ever notice there's no pill for a woman who has a hard time opening her legs to her overweight, pot bellied, sit on ass tv watching man? I mean women have a process they go thru to get ready biologically for sex right? So if a women isn't gushing over 'sit on my ass and watch the game Steve". but 'superhero in his mind' Steve wants booty action, what's SHE suppose to do? IS there a pill that will force her body into SHOWGIRLS type erotic and ready heat on demand? I think it's all BS. You take that 45 year old man with the 'erectile dysfunction syndrome' and sit him in a room with a 19 year old in full cheerleader dress with pigtails and no panties on, guess what's getting stiff in about 4 seconds, no pill needed. The commercials for these magic pills play all day all night on AM radio station, whether it be sports stations or political station. What a scam. I think couples need to engage in more personal relations and find that spark that drew you to one another rather than depend on a pill that going to fool your cock into believing your laying with 18 year old booty. Doesn't seem right. Give her a foot message, color her hair, trim her pubes, or have her play with herself in front of you...do something! If i Was a woman I'd make my 'troubled dick man' sit in front of some quality smut and test the old pecker with the blue pill eh? Betcha he'd have some explaining to do.

-You know what I get a kick out of? Love. Specifically how convenient it's suppose to be. Why do people feel that that 1 person, that one soul they are suppose to spend the rest of their natural lives with lives either in the same zip code or 35 - 50 miles away. If you think about how large this planet is for us wee-mammals, and how vast the world population is...well chances are your perfect match is on the other side of the globe. What are the odds that that person who is suppose to complete you lives a 10 minutes drive away? The divorce rate is pretty high in this country, and I gather that my sci-fi computations have a large part to do with it. You have to give yourself a fair chance with true love (the internet will only get you so far) and see the other side of the planet at least. Statically that should give you a higher percentage on meeting that special someone, depending on how long you can stay. Unfortunately with lives on planet earth you will devote 65% of it to your job or profession. Doesn't leave a lot of time to go out seeking 'the one'. Poop.

-Well Russell T. Davies is leaving Doctor Who. I'm kinda of sad to see him go. I think it's the right time. He did a amazing job in bringing back Doctor Who and presenting it in a format that keeps hard core fans and new fans satisfied. As wonderful he has been though, most the amazing episodes of the last 4 seasons are all written by outside writers. One of the best writers of the bunch will be taking over the lead producer role, Steven Moffat. I think this will bring the focus of Doctor Who back on track where it was Sci-Fi first, romance second. And I think (and hope) the Tardis starts to go beyond the UK in it's travels. I haven't seen this many earth bound episodes since John Pertwee's run. THe good outweighs the bad by a long shot. The choices for the Doctor were spot on. David Tennant is so good I sometimes forget Christopher Eccleston had a full season. I've don't remember seeing any notable black people in the original series run...well you had Joseph Marcell (fresh prince, the butler) in a Sylvestor Mccoy episode, but that's about it. Now many of the episodes are cast with 40% brown folks. Even had a black female companion for a full season (freema agyeman) , and she is still with the Who universe (check out Torchwood, a Doctor Who spinoff) which is great. Nice to see that in Sci Fi. The updated monsters have all been nice. The Time War angle spices things up, and the new TARDIS is a nice design (I wish they could bring back the Paul McGann TARDIS, and why not bring back Paul while your at it!) Davies, as great a job he did, put a lot of unnecessary elements into Who that really haven't been weeded out until recently (farting aliens, retreading, ect). The 4th season is really great so far because of his new companion Donna Noble. It's all Sci-Fi, no romance. Of course Rose and the whole gang from season 1-3 are coming back to the last episodes of season 4 but I think that's a good way of Davies closing his chapter in Doctor Who history. The man has taken the impossible (making dr who relevant worldwide) and made it possible. I remember the geniuses at the sci fi network (do they actually watch their programs?) passing on the first season of doctor who, only to snatch it up after the first season of the new series ran. Now they are showing episodes a week after they are ran in Britain. Nice. Doctor Who is (and always will be) my favorite tv show, both the old series and new. I'm happy that it's found a new audience and I'm glad it only comes as 14 episodes a year. I like the look of the show, looks like they put $ into it. Anyone who watched the old series knows what I'm talking about. I look forward to the rest of Davies run (Season 4 + 4 specials next year), and I have high hopes for the continuation of Doctor Who with Steven Moffat in 2010. Now if they can only get Robert Carlyle for the Doctor in 2010 :-)

-Final season of Battlestar Galactica.....last 4 episodes (4-7)....too much yappin' .......nice mid season ending though.

-Spike Lee has been giving Clint Eastwood a lot of shit for not having any blacks in his recent world war 2 films. I know what most people think of Spike Lee. In fact I think he's been on of the biggest disappointments in the film world considering his potential (She’s gotta have it, Do the right thing, Summer of Sam, Bamboozled, classics….but too many message movies and closed minded race flicks). That being said I remember watching Flags of our Fathers and saying to myself "where are the black folks?" Clint’s stance is that history reflects the things he was filming did not have blacks in it. Of course that's ridiculous, but then again Clint Eastwood has never been all about equality (watch some of those dirty harry movies lol). I mean c'mon Clint, I not talking about placing black people in just for the sake of it; I was simply looking for at least one 'brotha' in the background somewhere, maybe carrying water rations, pushing a tire. Something dude, because we were there. It’s a reflection of sad times when such a effort goes towards keeping projects that clearly have a history of being multi racial and multi cultural a bright and white as you can get it. I don’t know this is still done.  Most white people in the modern day and age could care less about color.  It takes a major effort as a director and casting agent to do something like this these days, and you can bet it’s deliberate.  So sad.  Young people need to see what America was really like, and if you’re going to do historical stories it’s even more important to accurately reflect what actually happened. While Spike isn't the best person to speak up on something like this I do have to agree with his sentiment. You don't have to plant a black man in the famous flag placement scene, but have us in the picture somewhere. We fought for freedom too! Considering Clint’s age you can kind of see how his generation views things like this.  Clint, you’re a gifted director and actor, but you’re also full of shit.  And making a jazz flick doesn’t pardon you.

-So soulja boy was dissed by ice t. Soulja Boy posted a youtube video in response. The product SOulja Boy makes ain't for my ears, but I respect his grind. His response he made to Ice T was about as classy as its going to get in hip hop today. If you take out the word Nigga (which is repeated over and over again, what the hell is wrong with black people?), and ingore the total lack of english education and creative expression, he made some really good points. Props to da kid. You can see the response here (or on youtube). When you look at it from his view, how can you fault the kid for trying to get rich fast off a music buying public who seems to like things simple with simple lyrics. I can understand the older hip hop mc's not feeling the yuck mouth state of lyrics in rap today. Hell, I try to find instrumental cd's and mixtapes myself of rap releases. I can't feel ill will towards someone who's found a nice formula. Kid used youtube to get rich. How can you not respect that? I mean it's not like Ice T was a lyrical genious backindadayz. Cop Killer? C'mon man. Other than "You played yourself" I didn't find Ice T's shit all that stimulating. I know a lot of my freinds brought his Power lp cuz of the girl he had on it, Darlene Ortiz.

  1. Elisabeth Sladen 2. Catherine Tate 3. Louise Jameson 4. Sarah Sutton 5. Frazer Hines and I love me some Nyssa!

-Entertainment weekly has a top 100 list for television and movies made in the last quarter century. On the television front, no Angel, Dexter, Farscape? On the movie front, no Shawshank Redemption, Groundhog Day?

-I was listening to wls am890, a chest thumping republican radio station (I find the whole democrat republican left wing right wing thang so silly),  they had a guest on the Bill Cunningham show speaking about how hip hop is destroying America, especially black America. What a joke. I'll tell you what's doing the ultimate damage. The highway robbery cost of higher education. I know people who are paying for 50k of school debt cuz you see, a regular bachelor's degree doesn't cut it. You have to rack up 8 to 10 years of higher education schooling to get that high 5 figure salary now. What many people are discovering is that the money isn't adding up fast enough to pay off the ridiculous amounts of debt you incur during you school tenure. Many people have to work a career type job while going to school. You can work part time living on your own unless you live in a cheap town, which usually doesn't = to the best schools. It's insane how much education costs. Doesn't this country want its citizens to be smart? Brilliant minds are going to waste because after high school that's it. Only a scanty few will be able to get scholarships because in many ways today's high school do not teach young people how to study the correct way. So many young minds who might want to go to school are slapped in the face with not only the ridiculous costs, but also the realization that the 4 years of high school they went thru had more to do with atheltic scholarships than it did shaping young minds. When people learn life lessons from entertainment on any level, you have a general failing of the educational system. Robert Deniro plays mob bosses in movies, but when he's at home he's a normal taxpaying citizen. While it's true some kids do have a serious problem separating art from real life, you have ti realize that if you continue to make everything unobtainable in life, what do you expect. Kids aren’t' as stupid as you think. They see their parents and how they struggle to get by, taking 30 years to pay for a house, 5 years to pay for a car that in the end you end up putting an additional 40% into the total cost of owning. Medical that is just as ridiculous as higher education in cost.  Jobs disappearing into the myst of greed. Apartment rent payments that are higher than most home mortgages (how the hell this that happen?). Kids ain't stupid, they see the world for what it really is. Take away everything that is suppose to make life good, well your going to get repercussions. Studies show there is a serious lack of qualified Americans to do tech work. Gee, wow, what a shock. That kid on the south side of chicago with the semi automatic pistol with G-Killer playing on his Ipod would probably be a great Lawyer or CEO if given the chance, but where he lives, in his eye's, it's game over anyway.  There isn’t a college out there that’s going to give him an opportunity at a price he can afford (why do you have to pay to learn anyway, and where does all that college sports money go to eh?), and the neighborhood he lives in hasn't changed in 30 years, you do or die.  I think given the right climate the majority of people in this country would love to go to a good school and work a decent job.  It’s getting hard as hell to do that now.

-Rest in Peace Goerge Carlin. You were beyond funny and beyond entertaining. You were a god amoung men. Nice HBO tribute on friday june 27th (my birthday!).

-Deltron 3030 instrumental (the one used for the quickly cancelled show roberry homicde).......greatest beat ever. Once you hear, it sticks to the brain.

-Wow. What a waste. Model Ruslana Korshunova, a stunning creature, took her own life at 20 years old. WTF? When you feel like death is the answer to your problems, talk to some one. Let it out. So sad.

-This is how you do it. Doctor Who fans are being treated to a top notch season of episodes and to make it even better we are getting a season finale that is leaving EVERYONE mystified. No one knows what's going to happen next. If only they did hollywood trailers like this. You see enough trailers for most of the modern movies and you'ver pretty much seen the movie, twists and all. Doesn't matter though, even a lukewarm movie like Indy 4, with all the best bits in the trailers, grosses almost a billion dollars. I'm glad most import programs I enjoy know how to keep a lid on things. Makes things fun until the next episode. My take on the Stolen Earth ending? Shit I don't know. And that's saying something cuz I ficured out the trick endings to the Sixth Sense and Fight Club within the first 15 minutes of each movie. I just hope Russell T. Davies is taking this to the high quality area he has the last few episodes he's penned. I have to give props, every Who episode this season has been on. Looking forward the Journey's End.

-can't wait. "here's my card" lol.

-So they 'let go' of mike north from the score am670 wscr, a sports radio station I used to listen too. That's pretty funny. I never understood the appeal (or the 1.5 million a year he was getting), or how he got away with the racist statements. I used to llike the Score, but lately its no fun to listen too. The hosts are really full of themselves (Boers & Bernstein, good lord), and past 11pm you don't even get chicago programming. Too bad. Love the Bears post game though (Buffone & Bradovich), espeically when the Bears suck! Fun listening.

-time to move. seems illinois doesn't even want to fake like they don't give a shit about common folk.

Ever hear a black man or black woman try to expalin why it's ok for black people to call each other nigger's? It's insane. "we own that word now" one girl told me. How dum can dum get? It's all I hear out where I live, and it's always black on black. How lost as a race do you have to be to do this? You know what's even shittier? I guess since african americans decided it's better for african americans to call each other niggers (and do the Klan's work), racist white america has come up with a new word to replace it. Reggin. Get it? Don't you just love America.

July 2008:

Rush Limbaugh signed a $400 million deal to sit on the radio and tell people what they should think. Scary Spice. Talk 'polytycal' radio is scary not because of what they say. It's really the people that scare me. I hear so many people repeating talking points that are said by various talk radio and cable opinion shows. No one thinks for themselves these days. You don't know how many times I've asked people specifically why do they support obama and the reponse is 'change', and with Mccain it's ' he's a war veteran'. WTF does any of that specifically have to do with being qualified to run a country, and more importantly force some in house change that's been overdue for over 100 years? Well congrats to Rush for pimping the Amercian Dream, which is get rich off of anything you can that attracts the masses. $400 million, damn. Imagine the money he makes for people, must be in the billions.

Like I Said, do a google search (ANYTIME) for chicago shooting and the South Side really shines in the death count. It's amazing how an entire division of a city can just be ignored. Teens, little kids, pregnant mom's, all kinds of people, usually african american. At least 5 a week now. Of course it doesn't help at all when the African Americans in these communities think that marches, signs delcaring God as the answer, and large church funderals are going to undue decades of black on black violence. Government as well as Washington only respect power moves. Seems like this senseless trend will just continue as long as the residents of these areas just take it up the ass like this. And Chicago wants the Olympic games. A 9 year old girl was stabbed to death in a alley on the south side. I honestly think low key genocide is on the menu here.

A freind sent a link to me concerning the View's opinion on Jesse Jackson's use of the word Nigger. Black people. We sound like idiots defending the use of the word Nigger. I mean really. It's like doing the Klan's work (they must love the south side of chicago right now). It sets us back as a race and makes it hard to take people of color seriously when defending human and civil rights. When you don't respect yourself enough to call each other by proper names, it speaks volumes of just how lost you are as people. We are the only race that does stupid shit like this. I hope there comes a time where we can evolve and stop with this kind of mentality. Please stop!

Aug 2008:

Rest in peace Isaac Hayes & Bernie Mac.

Oct 2008

Amazing how times have got.  Everyone is feeling the pinch.  No one has money to do much, and those that do are cutting back severely.  What I don’t get is that you have this Democrat Republican 2 party system for like decades now.  They work in tandem.  They have too.  So in reality your going to continue to have decades more of poorly run government spanking your ass while they switch hit with brand new taxes whenever there is another damn that busted needs to be patched.  I think its sad that this is the government we are stuck with.  Much of this is due to the new direction we have gone in with education.  People are just not able to reach their potential.  Have you seen the cost of college?  Yeah, I know you have, your probably allocating a large part of your month income to it.  It’s ridiculous.  Its like this country wants most of its citizens to below average, with just enough education to be a cashier as a career.  Education should be free.  The human race cannot survive unless it makes an everyday effort to reach its full potential.  Those guys pulling the triggers on the south side of Chicago?  Given the right education you could have the finest in mathematicians, chemists, logic experts, doctors…the possibilities are endless.  Keep pricing them out of a proper education and you see those numbers double by next year, and more random shootings will rain all over Chicago (which is one of the most comically ridiculous cities I’ve ever seen…..those taxes…..the corruption…goodness) and more young people will have dreams of a decent life squashed.  I haven’t heard candidate the first mention anything about lowering the cost of higher education.  Helping to deal with high crime areas.  Reducing the taxes people pay instead of keeping them current or raising them.  Raising the average income of maericans so they can afford to pay the dozens of expenses they have to pay now per month.  I mean in the last 30 years the price of everything has gone up a great deal, but the money people make in relation to that just doesn’t pan out.  Now your average 2 bedroom apartment costs as much or more as a home mortage, which means simply people cannot save money anymore.   When you have a CEO earning $18 million a year vs the mail room guy earning $24,000 a year, your going to have problems.  Serious problems (in the last 2 years I know 11 people who have lost jobs).  And then they think that mail room guy is earning too much, believe me they will have some outsourcing thang in place before you finish your next blink.  The solutions I hear from both candidates sound like the same garbage we’ve been getting for the past 30 years.  We need some really radical changes and I don’t think either party candidates (who are both shiny happy multi millionaires by the way) are going to offer anything in the means of radical changes that must be implemented.  I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

When the cubs choke, its always special.

Looking forward to Let the Right one in. After Taken I think foreign movies is where it's at for the time being.

Have to give Radiohead props for In rainbows. Probally the most listened album for me in the last 2 years. Saw the live from the basement special. Great band. Glad they don't have any of the ego some of the other great bands have had. They can do this as long as the stones.

I'm a black man, but big gigantic cellulite female bootys just don't do anything for me. I can almost hear the diabetes forming. I'll take em petite :-)

You know, I've been saying how shitty Chicago, namely the south side, has been getting. Well I guess now Chicago is the murder capitol of the world. And to top it off the day that it was announced, Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother Jason, was shot and killed in Chicago. That is about as sad of news as you can get. I really pisses me off to no end that this way of the gun can live in a major city, with its officials completely ignoring it. Well I don't know if this will spark anything, probally not, but it will make the world aware of just what a overtaxed shithole chicago has become. Click on this link to see daily reports of chicago violence. Anytime, anyday.

My heart goes out to the Hudsom family. Terrible terrible tragedy.
Nov 2008:

President Barack Obama. Wow. Let me make it clear that as a small business owner, Barack scares the bejezus out of me. As a candidate I didn't really hear all that much to get me excited in terms of how he actually plans on implementing the REAL change that is needed in this country (people need to earn more money, education needs to be damn near free, teachers need to be paid a minmum 80k a year, taxes need to be revamped, ect ect), and I think folks are in for a surprise when the real facts of life present themselves and you see there is no quick fix to this slow winding mess we've gotten ourselves into. That being said it is a testament to just how much the media has made race to be way more than what it really is. Hell 10 years ago I lived with nothing but white girl roommates in Dekalb Illinois (refused to live with guys, and Dekalb is predominantly white) for years and years. I never experienced any problems with this situation. I've done alot of interracial dating. I was married to a lovely Bulgarian woman. I mean......racism exists, but can't say I've been spanked with it. People do not have the time for that race crap anymore. The media, some militant blacks, television and movies...they might want to play the color card over and over but c'mon. You have president of the united states now that shows the world that the bullshit this country used to practice is being erased the way it should be. Not by silly marches, mass prayer, or ambulance chasing preachers (Sharpton, Jackson) or PBS specials.....instead it is being erased by the people and their actions. Everyone made this happen, and regardless to what kind of job Obama does, it stands as a great message to those that would attempt to keep this country bottled up in history and fear. More importantly what this historic moment does is force black men to take a good look at themselves. We be fucking up for sure.  No joke.  Maybe the finger pointing, self hate, black on black violence, fear of education and lack of startup businesses will change.  I certainly hope so.  Well Obama, best of luck.  I don't envy your job.  Like the Onion said, Black Man Given Nation's Worst Job :-)

Special thanks to Mark Levin, Hannity, Limbaugh. You make time fly with your comedy. I'm neither to the left or the right the middle the back, so listening to the constant barrage of Obama bashing was hilarious, even for someone who doesn't think he's a great candidate.

  Supernatural baby. Supernatural.

  Mmmmm.....Amy Mainzer

Some great flicks: Once, Let the Right one in, Quantum of Solace, August Rush, Amelie, Apocalypto, She's gotta have it, fists of legend.

Finally replaced my Honda Prelude. May it rest in auto peace. And whatever you do, if you have to deal with Safeco Insurance...Lawyer up! I''m now a happy kid again rolling on duv's in my 92 acura integra.....flava country! It's amazing what value Honda made cars have even after a decade and a half of age.

I really don't get Chicago sports fans. We have 2 sports radio stations which run all day all night (check em out, they stream online 670 score and espn 1000), and you should hear how passionate the fans are about their teams. It's fun listening, but really....how can you take Chicago sports teams seriously. The all spend the minimum amount they can on the product. Even when they do open the wallet, like in the Cubs n Bears case, they have usch terrible scouting they either sign junk players or give up on players too early who shine someplace else. 100 years for the cubs without a world series and they still pack em in Wrigley "beer garden' Field. When Chicago teams do luck into a playoff series of a championship, you can bet the next year the team will be dismantled so maximize profit from raised ticket prices. I used to love sports, especially baseball. Now it's strictly EA sports for me. I just read Alex Rodriquez makes more than the entire Florida Marlon's roster. I have a hard time believing these multi millionaires really give a shit about 'winning the championship'. Oh they give that game face when the camera is on them but damn....the average salary for a baseball player is l;ike 3.6 million a year......what's in your wallet? Would you really care about getting some silly ring that signifies a accomplishment that really means squat in the scheme of things.  You make in 1 game what it takes the average USA citizen 12 months to earn, plus you have several months off to relax, expirament with mind altering drugs and sexual situations......  Go team!!  In my next life....scholarship baby!  The bears will crap out again (I could go on and on about how silly this team is), the sox will become ghosts of the south side, the cubs will keep on tryin', the hawks .....well actually the black hawks look like they have a shot in being a contender in w couple years.  But my goodness did they become a cesspool over the last few years.  CHicago.....keep dreaming.

I get a kick out of the whole CD DJ vs Vinyl DJ controversy.  I just scooped up a couple of CD tables (3 actually).  The first mix practice mix I did with them almost made me orgasm.  The possibilities are endless.  To those who believe that Vinyl is the only way to roll......carry my DJ case up 5 flights of stairs and feel the analog pain course thru your body.  No really, both have a place in the DJ world.  I play 60% cd 40% vinyl now.  I find it convenient to buy the tracks I want online without having to spend it on a whole EP cuz lets face it, music ain't what it used to be (have you heard what passes for house and techno now?).  So many bedroom producers now, you have a lot more stuff to cycle thru before you find those bangers.  The feel of the cd tables is different but you get used to it real quick when you have a means to play anything you want without having to worry about it getting lost in luggage hell.  If you make your own stuff then you probally stopped reading this after the first sentence.  It's a breath of fresh air.  Now I can jack all those mp3.com techno artists I enjoyed listening too before the site turned commercial.  Hell it's now easier to make playlists :-)  Check my gear page in the next few days to get the skinny on the new gear I got for spinnin'.  I'll also be putting up my archived mixes from the last 10 years on the site for your downloading pleasure.  It's a new day and age........cue baby.....cue.

a lot is being said about the state of things here in the United States of America. We have McCain / Obama (has this cat even had time to use the senate bathroom?) / H Clinton in the news 24/7. Personally I don't think any of these candidates are worth leaving my home for to cast a vote. There has to be a better way of getting qualified people running for public office, preferably those that aren't multi millionaires / talking point props before they get into office. I read bad news about our economy and employment status everyday but you know what? I don't see people giving a rats ass. They complain to friends, but what are they doing about their state of living? Our government and states have out priced it's very own people. No one can afford anything and no one has money to save. It's not just the housing market. This has been a long time coming. When you have corporations grossing millions and millions of dollars and at the same time shifting jobs overseas to save more bucks...well what do you expect. I know 4 people who lost their jobs last year. That's not good. The way i see it when renting an apartment costs more than a monthly mortgage payment on a home or condo, you are going to have serious problems. How are you suppose to have money at the end of the month if you earn $36,000 and your rent is $1200 a month for a 2 bedroom (and I know people will read that and say hey man that's cheap) + car payment, insurance, $100 a month CABLE, phone, power, gas, and son and so on. What are you suppose to save money with? Don't get me started on the cost of education, health care, ect........

rant pt 2......Everything has gone up except the wages Americans are paid. Everything you need in life has to be paid with imaginary money (credit, mortgage loans, insurance, ect), and combine that with this false sense of glorious freedom that we spoon fed ourselves everyday. It's like we feel we're privileged to be taxed and charged to death so we can be blessed with our SUPER FREEDOM!! Yeah....like you can't wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, stop by Macdonald's & rent a movie on the way home, sit on your ass and watch TV till you fall asleep anywhere else in the world. Having traveled outside the states many times I've seen how things work 'out there'.  We can learn a lot from some of the European countries.  Their public transportation is da shit!  Wish we had it here. They don't understand our complaints about gas prices, but they don't have grocery stores & doctor offices 6 - 12 miles away all the time.  As Americans we have to strive for more than what we do day to day. We eat like pigs, don't exercise, worship millionaires  for things that don't matter at all (sports, movies, ect) and meanwhile hospitals, businesses are closing up shop in cities and suburbs and jobs are scarce. Solutions?   I believe Americans need to demand fair wages as well.  The average USA salary is $36,000 a year.  Alex Rodriquez makes that much in ONE at-bat for the NY Yankees, whether or not he get's a hit.   Start holding your government responsible.  Stop looking like mindless fat sheep to the rest of the world. I also think we should hold our government accountable for its actions at the very least and there should be a way for Americans voice to be heard other than american idol.  Look at the loss of life in Iraq, both sides. For what?  Our brave and honorable solders putting their young lives at risk, ready to defend our lazy jr bacon eating asses at a moments notice with their very lives.....but look at what they are sent to do by their superiors. Did it make any sense?  Only too top brass it seems.  Americans have been conflicted about the invasion everyday since it started and had the power to put a stop to it, but we didn't. Bush has had 8 years to do his thang which tells me America is happy with their president and the way things have gone, otherwise why 2 complete terms?  Why bitch and moan about him now when he's on his way out?  Thats when you wait to get upset is when things escalate that have been in place since Bush Sr and BIll Clinton's run.  You think the administration cares about approval ratings?  Do you have any idea how much money is being made on the private side on the sweat and backs of hard working americans?   Doesn't it bother you that Government thinks americans are lazy and won't do certain kinds of jobs....for half of minimum wage?  Really, I get the impression country has been run for the past 3 decades by a bunch of people who LOOK like they know what their doing but kind of really don't.   What a mess.  What a mess.  I know I was mostly bitching and moaning but c'mon, what else can you really do other than vote for a new type of BS?

wow, got a lot of email on my rant. I'm glad people mostly liked it. I know it was mostly bitching and moaning but dude,.,,,,there are a lot of pissed off people out there who keep this shit to themselves and think voting for a new millionaire republican or democrat caniditate (you know they really work together right?) is going to change things like they need to be changed. I just feel nothing will change until people get smarter about their lives. Governemtn has become self serving over the past 50 years, and it's getting so now that the damage is almost irreversible for middle and lower class people. I don't man man. I don't know.

The music biz........what a shithole.  I wonder how much longer does it have? Even before mp3s, the music biz was a rat trap. Underpaying artists, taking unfair rights, bad bad contracts, overcharging, ect. Now it seems music has no value any more. What do they expect. Even with all the turmoil they STILL charge $15 for a music cd. Don't these fools know that people have choices now. FUN choices. People would rather spend $60 on Grand Theft Auto IV than pay $15 for a music CD. You can get 2 to 3 movies for the cost ofa list price CD these days. Good flicks. What would you rather own? The new REM at $15 or the Spiderman Trilogy for $12? I thought the last 2 spidermans were depressing as hell but my money is on Spidey! The music biz better get it's head out of it's own ass before music becomes a hobby for folks. The music business survives today thru video game soundtracks, movie soundtracts, tv scores. Good fun steady work. You may not get Jay-Z rich from it but you can afford some Culver's every now and then. Young artists coming up still have that dream of having a hit song and getting rich (or die tryin'). Didn't they watch vh1's behind the music?  They don't even develop artists any more.  You get 1 album and thats it.  Besides, I'm sure every one of these up and coming artists has a hard drive or ipod full of 1000's of songs the acquired, but they still think they are going to rap or sing their way to 7 figures a year. What a pipe dream. Who's buying music like that any more?  If you keep things realistic and gain a good fan base you an make a decent living in music, but the days of excess and expensive videos are over. And the music biz has no one else to blame but themselves. What the hell were they thinking? The first time I saw a mp3 cd being made in front of my eyes...I was shocked. That easy? Uh oh, better find a new trade. Now when you buy a mp3 player, 9 times out of ten you have a freind who will copy is 40gb ipod to yours. DO you know now many albums that is? It would take years to collect that many records, nut now copying 40 gigs via usb2.....go take a shit and come back and your files are copied. THat insane and impossible to combat. Why the music biz never got on congress ass is beyond me. The frist thing your taught as a musician is to copyright your recordings with congress. For what? THey won't do anything, It's not just music either. Movies, video games, ect. Congress could care less about digital duplication. Many of them are aged 60 or older, don't even know what USB or avi means. It's a sad state of affairs for the music biz. I mean hell, with computers you dont even have to know how to make music to make music. It's so easy. I find a lot of time I end up over producing music....adding chords and stuff that todays music listeners just don't care about. There are no real solutions I see to fixing whats wrong with the music business. Most people have music libraries so large that if the internet were shut down tomorrow it wouldn't matter, theres enough music to entertain for decades. The thing is how do you make music relevant in todays times? A hot single like Alicia Key's "no one" (what a great song!) should be on the charts for 9 - 13 months. These day your hot for about 2 months before you have to slam something else out there. Not good. Albums generally suck ass because you have young hot fuckable singers singing about fucking for 12 songs in a row by the same list of producer album after album.

oct 2007:
New Arrested Development in 2009? I certainly hope so!

The Sarah Jane Adventures! So happy to see Elizabeth Sladen again. Great actress, great character. Never thought Doctor WHo would come back like this, able to spring of spin offs like it's nothing. Torchwood is a good show on it's own rights.

I have to admit that this season of tv has been good for people who prefer escape entertainment rather than the same cops, medical, lawyer dramas we usually get. Reaper, Pushing Daisies, Bionic Woman (hopefully it will get better), and later this year the Sarah Connor chronicles....a lot of sci for your fi.

I love music. All kinds of music. I make music too. That being said I have to say that man o man does the radio sound like hamster shit. Songs that don't sound like they are finished yet. Rappers and singer that sound like they never finished grade school. Female vocalists that really should just do soft porn and get it over with. I thought about the fact that I'm no longer 21 and am I just being judgmental towards a new generation of music. Naaa, this shit stinks. Thank goodness for Hard drives which let you chronicle gigs and gigs of music from all genre's. THanks to that there will always be good music to listen too, it's just not on the radio.

Barack or Hilary? Democrat or republican? Bugs or Mickey? Does it really matter? I used to be sort of political backidadayz. NOWadays all I see is billion dollar corporations taking advantage of a country that allows you to do just about anything you want at the expense of the 'willing to work' american. I know a lot of people who have lost jobs in companies that let you go while raking in record profits. That's not good dude. Americans are willing to work, but they don't want to be anally raped in the process. You outsource a job when you have the money to pay your workers. Doesn't make any sense, but that's thinking with your heart type analysis. It's all about maximizing profit now. People are jumping from job to job. There's no more of that life long employment with one company. Pretty scary. But hey, who really cares about all the real life crap, Dancing with the Stars and weekend football will help you forget all that non-sense.

You know what gets me about Brothers that get caught doing dum shit? It's other Brothers (and sistaz) defending the dum shit. MIchael Vick, who I'm sure now is probably sitting with his hands on top of his head wishing he could do like that cat in heroes and go back back back, by pleading guilty is admitting to doing some pretty awful stuff. I've heard a few celebetires try to defend his actions by saying in his 'hood' this type of thing was common. Why even mention something stupid like this? Vick was a multi millionaire and the face of a professional $ports team. HE wasn't living in the hood, he knows he wasn't living in the hood, and he knows that outside of the hood there is a new way of doing things. The celebrities defending Vick all live in nice areas, and you know if word got out one of the neighbors was dog fighting, chicken fighting, squirll fighting, you couldn't count the seconds before a cop would be brought to their door. THey are not going to let anything mess with their property values. SO why try to defend what Vick was doing. Why not just say, you know he really F'd the CK up. That's all I got to say. Its like when the MIchael JAckson trial was going on. Brothers were defending Michael saying he was set up, or he's just a kid in his head...it was harmless. If that was you or me caught sleeping with little boys who we did not bring into the world, you know what our fate would be? Anal rape in prison over and over again. No one is going to try to understand that shit? Go to Jail, never see day light as a free man again. Amazing the kind of forgiveness celebs get. At least brother celebs got the money to get them out of most of the messes they get into now. How long has the R-Kelly case being in limbo. They might as well throw it out. $$

I got to mess around with both the xbox 360 and playstation 3 and even the wii. The Wii is a cool distraction, but there are too many junk games out on it already, With the xbox 360 and ps3, I don't think sony or microsoft had a clear game plan when they were rushing these systems out. There are several versions of both consoles, for different reasons. Poor build quality, nutty pricing ect. People love video games, but they got to eat. I don't know why you release next gen systems hoping to have the market penetration the ps2 did (something like 1 out of 5) when there's just a small fraction of people out there owning the hi def TV's you need to play these systems right. I haven't taken the hi-def plunge yet. Perhaps next year when they are more sensibly priced (if you want quality you have to get the lg's, samsung, sony's with the 10,000:1 contract ratios) I'll get one. But asking people to buy all their favorite movies all over again is like asking people to pay $60 bucks for the same game they have played before, but with shinier graphics. It's a tough sell, and from what I've seen people aren't jumping right into it like they had hoped. There are some nice titles on the 360 for sure, but what am I going to play it on? I'm still getting plenty of joy joy feelings from my ps2!

Iraq. You have to wonder what it would take to make American Citizens actually give a natural fuck about anything other than the mundane. To me being an American at times is sitting inside of a raging fire, with the ability to completely ignore it even though it's reducing you to ashes. On both side of the arguments for why we went to Iraq, you can believe it was a just move, but what has transpired as a result of this is really bad. I have the highest respect for our military. They are truly amazing. What they are willing to do for their country should never be taken lightly. My problem is with the men who send them in harms way. A lot of dead never coming back young Americans taken from this world for what? I've never heard 1 good reason why these kids have died. Not one. Nothing has changed there, and we are lucky that we do spend more on our military than the world combined because such an aggressive move can for alliances that might not have been there before. We got Saddam, and as nutty as he was you have to remember we used to do big business with this man. What has transpired in Iraq is nothing more than a personal vendetta to me, using the lives of young americans as fuel for the fire. But really, it's not the actual war I feel sad about, What I feel sad about is that if you really take a look around, no one cares. To make things worse I don't think americans would care about iraq even if there was great good being done there. From what I see in general people here care about tv shows, weekend restaurant eating, shopping, eating shopping eating and that's about it. Kids are raising themselves these days ya know. We are taught in school at a very young age that the United States of America is the greatest country in the milky way galaxy. They don't bother teaching you about those other countries because they aren't the greatest! Well that attitude is seriously catching up to us. We're letting big business and big government do whatever they want whenever they want. Search your feelings....you know this to be true...... The money and blood shed from the Iraq war added to the total neglect of human decency being done here in the states is going to spell bad times for people in the future. Wait till you turn 65 after bouncing from job to job, you better like the taste of romain noodles. Politics is a self serving sick game now and I get a tummy ache just hearing the hopeful glee people have for the democrats. This mess have been a long standing brew cooked up by the carters, Reagans, clintons, & bush's and all the puppet master pulling the strings of these rich folk. TO those who are serving in Iraq, my heart and prayers go out to you that you make it home to your loved one's, and I hope this country at least does the right thing and make sure these Americans never have to worry about money or stability ever in life.

Gotta wonder about the state of music these days. Radiohead left it up to the fans and they showed they really do not give a shit about paying money for music these days. And who could blame them? They have been snatching free music for so long while the fossils in congress continue to nod and snore. Recently O had a friend who got a new 40gb ipod as a birthday gift. He threw all the cd's he owned on it which took up about 2 gigs. His friend filled the rest of his ipod with music, copying 1 ipod to another. 40 gigs of music just like that. What is the music industry going to do about that? What is congress going to do about that. It's getting to be the same way for movies. One night I went over 3 different people's homes and guess what was playing on their tv's? Die Hard 4. The movie was in it's second week of release in the theaters. This was a good copy too. None of that ghetto ass cam crap they sell on every corner now where the pictures shakes cuz the jacker sneezed while shooting. I mean look around. Sam GOody closed down along with tower records, virgin music store, rolling stone record shops. You are now forced to buy music from Best Buy or Borders for inflated prices. The entertainment business should be furious at congress. The first thing your taught as a musician is to copyright your work. Register it with congress. For what? They don't do anything at all. You can get any new release a month before it comes out, and after it comes out you have your choice of the bit rate you prefer. Suing the casual music fan isn't the answer. I would not want to be in charge of fixing this mess. --afternote: looks like radiohead did make some money. uh oh.

estimated up to 3,000 dead. when something like this happens the world should just stand still for a moment and feel. So sad. My deepest condolences goes out to the people and families of Bangladesh. Lord knows they don't have the insurance and services we have here.

I really get tired of political discussions.  It’s like trying to discuss religion rationally.  You really can’t.  It’s personal.  Say something disagreeable and the gloves come off.  It’s the same way with politics.  My views on politics are a little lazy now.  I really could care less about it.  The more you look into how the world really works, the more you realize just how screwed we are as a species.  Government serves itself, and whats scary about is that it isn’t self aware yet.  Democrats and Republicans, there’s no sucj thing really.  It’s all relative.  They work together, each one setting policy that the other couldn’t with the desired result being something that serves Government.  Raised tax after raised tax and where does it go?  Government.  It’s suppose to be there to serve you but it really seems more interested in having you cover ill conceived concepts and costs.  Government itself has no idea it really exists.  It collects and collects.  Everyone ultimately serves it, but for what?  It doesn’t need our permission as the people for anything.  Government sets policy overnight.   In fact it will set policy and make sure to keep it out of your homes, out of your line of sight.  While doing so it will continue to reinforce the concept that you like in the greatest country in the 7 known galaxies.  Education is geared towards this.  The rest of the world does not exist, you only need to know one language because the rest of the world will speak it.  You don’t even need to know where Austria is on a globe.  You let government take care of that.  Strange stuff.  Take the wonderful concept of ‘Freedom’.  Keep in mind when the constitution and all those other wonderful documents were being written, they were created by slave owning sexist outcasts.  They may have meant well but in reality what they were is at the center of the very documents and principles this nation adapts as gospel.  Freedom, in reality in the United States of America, is simple the ability to live out your life as best you can with minimal interference from Government as long as you provide the bare minimum government expects.  In other words pay your taxes and obey laws.  Do this and you are rewarded with…well…freedom.  Nothing really changes.  Your success in life is usually directly influenced by the level of education you have received.  Anyone can reproduce, anywhere, anytime, doesn’t matter if your level of success will support your new family.  You work, come home, watch tv, sleep and do the whole thing all over again.  Variables like family or partnership can disrupt the normal pattern, but not for long.  As an American who has done some traveling I can say in most civilized countries you can do what we do here in the USA anywhere, which suggests that things are more the same than people tend to think when it comes to USA vs. the world.  It’s just that the rest of the world is taught to believe the USA is the greatest thing to come along since sliced bread.

Why and I bitching like this?  I think the United States of America is obviously a great place to be, but I also think that much of the potential we have is being lost in a sea of corruption, lazy lifestyles and bad ideas.  More so than ever this earth is becoming more and more connected.  Russia isn’t as far away as it used to be.  True the cost to fly there is ridiculous, but computers have made this planet a little easier to get around.  As that happens cultures begin to blend, and humanity begins to fold back into itself.  Things that might have been strange are not so strange anymore.  Instead of looking at a foreign language as something that’s impossible and not practical, now that the world is a little smaller maybe it’s worth the time and effort to learn, because what exists behind the language is something very human, something very approachable.   It’s a chance for someone to learn from everyone.  People follow leaders.  It’s a fact, a sad fact sometimes.  In 2008 we, us Americans, have the chance to make serious changes in the lifestyles that we live, to make whats wrong right.  Clinton / Onama & McCain is the best we can do.  That’s it.  There’s no one else with a serious chance of being heard.  These are our choices. I’ve heard them all speak, looked at what they stand for, and look at their eye’s.  I don’t see anything different than what we’ve been getting for the past 100 years.   Things need some serious fixing.  Radical fixing.  The kind of fixing that can get you killed.  I just don’t see it with these candidates.  I see more of the same talking points hidden behind the standard issue suits.  It’s a perfect time in our history to make things right for ourselves.  To take back our role as the decision makers based on a forum of intelligence and the desire to live life out to the fullest.  We are reduced to airing our opinions and beliefs around the water cooler or among friends and family.  That’s as far as it goes.  This needs to change.  Government cannot continue to serve itself and big business like it does.  Government cannot continue to set policy as it seems fit without any say so from its bosses.  It will continue though, I think, despite the turn out this November because well….you got Clinton / Obama and McCain.  I just don’t see anything but what we’ve had for centuries.  I hope I‘m wrong.  I really do.

keep your xp install discs. you'll need them if you buy a new pc or laptop with vista installed. I'm not a microsoft ragger, XP and 2000 are great OS's. Vista is hershey squirt shit. An unnecessary bloated patchwork of a operating system that is really XP with a lot of 'wish we were mac' stuff sprinkled on top of it. I repair PC's on my spare time and it's always amazing to me how much faster a computer runs when you go back to XP after using Vista home basic or premium. Granted I haven't used a Vista Ultimate PC for longer than a half hour, but the specs you need to have to run it is nutty. I got one of those compaq $399 notebooks. !.8ghz celeron M. WIth Vista and 1.5GB or ram it ran like a PC running XP with 128MB of ram. Vista is pretty no doubt, but it's like running the Unreal game engine just for the operating system. WHen I downgraded the $399 notebook to XP it ran faster than my productivity 1.5ghz sempron (with 1.5GB of ram), but of course slower than my music PC which is a 3.2ghz pentium 4 (2gb of ram). At $399 and downgrading to XP I got a great deal. Finding all the drivers for the notebook was not fun, they only had half of them posted on the HP/compaq site. but it's worth the trouble. I can go back to Vista whenever I want with the restore cds (why don't they just give people the vista install dvd? that's just not cool) if I ever decide to take the Vista Plunge, but I doubt I'll ever want to unless they rewrite the code. Vista should not have been released. There is nothing it does better than XP for the general user, and I'm sure businesses are being advised to stick with what works instead of upgrading just cuz Micro$oft says you need too.

woke this morning, got my frikkin car totaled. No really, I got into an auto accident out here in the south suburbs of chicago. people really drive like maniacs out here. I think my days living out here are numbered. Since I had my sweet honda it had been hit twice....WHILE PARKED! This accident was the fault of the other driver, he tried to make a left thinking my car (along with me) was going to magically pass straight thru his gigantic SUV. Unbelievable. What do they teach you in drivers ed. At a stop sign look both ways, especially when the oncoming traffic has no stop sign. What a prick. My car was totaled, it was a vintage ride which unfortunately insurance companies don't respect. I'm happy to sy I'm fine. Just a little bruised up, I'll still be able to make my dates in Belgium and Switzerland this January and February. But I probably never find a Honda like that prelude. You know what I mean. A cart that just felt right and was reliable as hell. Folks, drive defensively, take your time where ever your going too, and stay off those fucking cell phones while your driving. Venting over.

movies I'm looking forward to......jumpers, the new bond (action directed by the bourne crew!), Cloverfeild, Speed Racer, No country for old men, dr jones, rambo!, Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem (it's r-rated), The Poughkeepsie Tapes

does anyone other than sports news shows really give a shit about baseball steroids and the mitchell report? seems kind of silly to me. there were no rules against the juice when the players were shooting up, and there's no way to prove anyone ever did anything. I wonder how much was spent on this ridiculous investigation.

is it me or are homes just sitting around for sale forever? seems no one is able to save money these days which means you can't buy property. this country better start paying it's workforce more REAL MONEY or it's going to get nasty. I don't care what fancy economy equations and terms you throw at me, when CEO's make up to 500 times more money than what their entry level employee makes, or athletes making with just 1 single game the kind of money it takes joe or sue 250+ days out of the year  to make ....well......that's just not good. Folks will get desperate. I personally know 5 people who have been let go from companies that....get this....if you look up their annual gross for this year, they all had record earnings.  I guess that's the best time to let go of people or outsource that help desk position, when your raking in the cash.  No wonder homes are just sitting collecting dust and leaves.
